Hi Friends! I hope these words find you happy and healthy on this Friday. I hope the weekend has a lot of joy in store for you, too. If your head is still spinning from the presidential debate, I recommend you check out the work of Sharon McMahon, aka America's Government Teacher. She is informative, strays from the inflammatory, and gives the facts. And facts are essential when there are one too many people out there still purporting "alternative facts."
But enough about that, let's lighten the mood and dig into this week's Friday Five:
My personal hero and unofficial mentor, Emily Ley, has brought the sisterhood of the magic pants to everyone's attention. These Colette Cropped High-Rise Wide_Leg Jeans by Maeve are supposedly magic—consumers of all body types say that they feel fabulous, that they fit great, and that they're just something that you'll want in your closet. They're currently sitting in my cart over at Anthropologie, and I made a wish list to refer back to when you have the time (and funds) to treat yourself.
My little guy and I made recycled crayons from the bag of broken crayons that had been sitting on our craft table for months. I got the "recipe" from PBS Kids, but basically, you preheat the oven to 250 degrees, find a silicone food mold (we used this dinosaur one from Amazon), break the crayons into tinier pieces to fill the mold, and then place it in the oven for fifteen minutes (or until everything is melted). When everything is melted, remove the mold from the oven and let them cool off until they're hard. Then pop those babies out of the mold, and presto - you've got recycled crayons!
I bought this hair cream from Odele Beauty called Air Dry Styler a couple of months ago, and I am obsessed. Yes, I still have a loving relationship with my Shark. But I also love this cream for days when I don't feel like taming my curly mane. It's lightweight and has a clean formula, and it makes my curls look something like Emmy Rossum's—and she is a curl queen.
